A Man Called Sledge

In 1970 James Garner stared in a movie A Man Called Sledge. The gun he used looks a lot like a brass frame Ruger. My question is could this have been a modified Ruger (adjustable sights removed) or did someone else make brass grip frame guns in the 60s?

I've seen the movie and the gun. By 1970 brass framed Uberti Colt clones were all over the place and a lot cheaper for movie prop houses to buy and beat up in the movies. If it was an Italian produced movie it was a Uberti, Armi San Marcos or some other Italian made clone for sure.

Thank you for the info. I did not realize that imports started that early. I always thought they started in the 80s. I agree with you that prop houses always tried to save money. In 68 or 69 visiting family in LA I was taken on a tour of a prop house. As I recall they had just started making guns out of resin to save some money.
