A little three screw 357 I picked up today.

I found this a few weeks back and just brought it home today. There is some wear on the muzzle and a little on the frame at the loading gate (and a few matching fine scratches on the cylinder). It doesn't look as though it was fired much, just carried around some I guess. It is a 1968 gun, 900xx.

I figure to use some of my cast 150's and 173's in it and maybe dabble with some Paco loads.

Not much better in life than finding a deal on a 3-screw 357.

Somehow mine keeping morphing into 44 Specials.

And, yes, that is even after having some Lipsey 44 Specials too.

It is an Ideal 358 439 hollow point mould, I have made an additional pin that allows me to make flat points too.

That's a nest of them alright, I only have 1 SBH and no brassies.

I'll see if I can make a rosette of mine tomorrow, I'll need to dig out a larger hide too.

Nice find. I am going to a gun show Sat, and hope to find a few Ruger Single Actions.

That's a nice little bird knife too. What its story?

A fella over Michigan way gave me that knife (it is one of three he gave me from that particular maker) a year or so back. As I recall he said they were made "local". If I remember I'll ask him the maker during our next chat.

Where is the gun show? We have one in Frederick, MD this coming weekend and it'd be nice to make it a 2-fer weekend.

I'll need to wait for better weather and a more rustic background before I have a do-over but here is my Ruger rosette. (I left a few out and had to put some NMs in to make a dozen.)

ruger-rosette.jpg

12 o'clock is a SS 22/22mag
1 o'clock is a 357
2 o'clock is my FT 44 mag
3 o'clock is the type 1 FT 357
4 o'clock is a 41 mag
5 o'clock is a NM 357
6 o'clock is a 45 Colt
7 o'clock is my only SBH, circa 1968
8 o'clock sits the 1968 357
9 o'clock is a NM 45 Colt
10 o'clock is my Buckeye 38-40
11 o'clock in one of my Old Army

Those are beaver pelts.

Dave Great pic. Very nice. Does your Type 1 357 have the Micro marked sight? I also have a type one but it doesn't. :(

Hey Jim, that's a great pic. If I did a rosette it would be a lot smaller but like yours, the only two autoloaders would be a Ruger .22 and a Browning-design- except mine's a P-35 instead of a 1911.

Your rosette is bigger!

I didn't know for sure on the Micro marked sight so I dug it out. It is serial number 2686 and has been around the block a few times.

I'm expecting a windfall (found money) from my impending retirement (sale of leave and such) so I'll pack in a few more Blackhawks and give the rosette another go in the spring.

Sorry Dave,
I thought it was a type one Protected sight old model.
Looks like the sight would be for a 57 model with the indexer on it.
Looks great fer sure, lots of plum.
thanks,
Jim
