A little entertainment on Saturday night

These are all good versions of "Ghost Riders" but my post was meant to be about "The Highwaymen" and the members of the band. Only two of them left.

That was very nice to see. Yeah those guys were great. Waylon Jennings and his wife used to spend some time here in the central valley with friends that I mutually knew. I never got to meet them. I almost did as I popped into the friend's place just about a week after they left. They were just kicking back between shows. This was back in the late 1980's. I was told that he and his wife, Jessie Colter, who was a star in own right were very nice people to know and talk to. They were real "regular people", from what I was told. I can still hear "Luchenback Texas". Hope I spelled it right. Always loved that song. A lot of people don't know that Waylon was on the plane with Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper, but had to give up his seat to Richey Valens, as Valens was ill with the flu and it was supposed to be easier for Richey to be on the plane instead of the drafty bus to go to the next show. That was good for Waylon, but bad for Ritchie. As they say from the song "American Pie": The night the music died.
