A big WOW this afternoon!

An old school friend called me,,, and we were talking & catching up. Seems he inherited a few guns,, and found out I was a "Ruger fan." He said he wanted to sell these guns,,, as he was a Browning man & only liked shotguns. He asked to meet me so we did,, and when he handed me a boxed,, near mint Engraved Single-Six,,, (RSSE) SPANISH engraved,,, I just about swallowed my teeth. Trying to keep my cool,, I asked him; "How much?" and he said; "I figure with the fancy engraving,,, it should be worth at least $600."
Well,, you can guess what I did!

I haven't pulled a good April Fools joke in a while. And I thought a little,,, "How can I get these guys,,, who are all pretty sharp? Well, the idea of a late day,,, type of story we all dream about,,, laced with just enough info to be very believable,, would do the trick.
And,,, to be fair & honest in the spirit of the Day,,, I had to disclose the joke before the end of the day. I knew I could have gotten a few more folks if I'd done it earlier,,, but I'm sure a few would have questioned things. And,, many here haven't seen me do this,,, so the fisherman in me dangled a tantalizing piece of bait,,, and I managed to catch a few. But,,, now,,, I know I'll have to watch out for them,,, as I'm SURE one or three of them may attempt a payback!
BUT,,, if we can't pick on our friends a little,,, (and get picked upon ourselves,,,,,) then we'd be living a dull life!

I have to also say that my dear wife was 'gotten'. She read some of John Dougan's book on the 'engraved' models and when I read her what Contender (did) she also remarked about his installed horse shoe.

Ok,,, I'll have to say my joke was also a bit inspired by M.A.S.H. There was one episode where Col. Potter pulled a prank on the whole camp. Hawkeye "bowed" to the master. I always admired a good joke when done in fun.
So,,, those that truly know me,,, know I wouldn't have taken advantage of anybody like that. I do appreciate those kind thoughts & all.

But hey,,, now,,, I guess I'll be watching my six for payback!
