???? 96/44 Question ????

I was looking up a 96/44 in the RENE Guide & the serial number pre-fix in the book shows 630-XXXXX .

Then I looked up some for sale on GB & other sites & the serial number pre-fixes I saw are 640-XXXXX .

Is 630 an error in the RENE or were others made later being 640 ???

The 630- prefix was used for the Deerfield rifles according to the serial # history. http://ruger.com/service/productHistory.html#

620- For the 96/17 and 96/22

630- For the Deerfield 99/44

640- For the 96/44
