Recently acquired a new/never fired 96/22 and have a couple questions.

1. Are any aftermarket trigger parts available? (I've almost worn google out looking)

2. I'm guessing it uses the same barrel as the 10/22??? So would aftermarket barrels fit?

3. I'm also guessing aftermarket stocks are out of the question?

Thanks!

PS: fwiw I live in Canada.

Good snag on the 96-22.Had one a long time ago and sold it,Been sorry ever since.I'm thinking the the 96 and the 1-22 use the same hammer. If so,get a power custom hammer. They work great to drop the tonnage of a stock trigger. As far as barrels, yes and no.The 96 barrel has two ejector slots in it.The 10-22 has one.Can it be done, yes, but it takes some doing.Extra ejector slot would need to be cut or maybe, just maybe the left extractor could be removed from the bolt(I wouldn't)Green mountain used to make 96-22 barrels and are a good bang for the buck.A 77-22 barrel has two ejector slot, but needs a shim to fit on a 10-22.The barrel shank my be different or the same on a 96.Stocks,none that i know of.Hope this helps a little.Slow

Thank you very much, it did indeed help.

I think I did pretty good too as I picked it up for $150.00, traded in on one day and I grabbed it the next. It's fast becoming my favourite rifle. I've been shooting 2 inch groups at 25 yards with open sights and freehand.

I'll check with some of the local gunsmiths to see if an extra extractor groove can be cut into an aftermarket barrel.

Again, thank you!

I got a Green Mtn 17 M2 barrel that fits both 96/22 and 10/22. It came with 2 extractor slots which is no problem for the 10/22. BTW Money is short here so, if someone wants a like new 22-17M2/96 combo, this one is for sale.
