9 mm Springfield Range Officer

I just traded my sr 1911 for a new Range Officer, but this one is 9mm!!! It took 30 mins to decide between 45 and 9 but since I have the Remington, but 9mm it is. I will post pics soon ...

Personally, I probably would have kept the SR1911 and traded the Remington. But regardless, you'll have some serious fun with the RO.

WOW! I just checked out GB. I can't believe how cheap those 9mm ROs are. I spent considerably more on my STI Trojan.

I may have but the Ruger had a rough barrel and fit no better than the r1. I have the same LGS looking for a Springfield loaded to trade the Remington in on.

Yep local LGS is $795 9 or 45. I am a 45 guy at heart but with thousands of 9mm brass on hand I am loving the 9mm RO. And I got a new loading press as an early Christmas gift.

As much as I absolutely love Springfields and the RO in particular .... You can get a RIA 9mm 1911 for about $380, and those guns have very good triggers out of the box and shoot very well.

I hear that RIA are a lot of gun "for the money". Personally, I'd rather skip the crap sights, crap grips, crap finish and irregular dovetails and spend a $3-400 more for the RO. But YMMV. If I could only afford a $500 gun (price of the RIA tactical) I'd have no problem with the RIA.

The tacticals are only $450 here in Pa. Not crazy about the triggers (the actual trigger, not the feel) on the tacticals ... Or the beaver tail.

Agreed on your assessment of the sights on the GI model though.

Believe it or not ... And I know this is hard to believe ... The RIA 1911's have the most consistently good triggers out of the box of any production 1911 company I know of. I handled about 7 or 8 one day and every single one of the triggers was excellent for an out of the box stock trigger.

I should have said "ramped" and "fully supported". A lot of the 9mm 1911s have a feed ramp built into the barrel to improve feeding. I have an STI Trojan and it is ramped and fully supported.

If you're addressing me, believe me I am, but the RIA is in a whole different class. The RO doesn't compete with a $380-450 RIA.

I saw a 9mm RO at the gun show today for $749. They just came out and they already seem to be showing up. That's just a wee bit faster than the SR1911's were :lol:

Those RO's are really great guns. I have an RI 9mm Tactical that I like but as soon as Ruger has a 9mm 1911 you can 'color it gone' in favor of Ruger
