I'm considering buying my first Ruger single action .22 LR revolver. For some odd reason I want one that functions traditionally. Are 9 1/2" old models that still function as old models scarce, rare, or, hopefully, more plentiful than people who want them? I don't want to buy .22 magnum cartridges so an extra cylinder is not an issue other than that I'd prefer to not buy one. If a 9 1/2" is likely to cost more than its weight in unobtainium I'll look for one with a 6 1/2" barrel and adjustable sights.

I assumed all the 9 1/2" old models had adjustable sights because all the 9 1/2" New Model SSs I've seen have adjustables. Is that correct?

That barrel length is less common than the 6-1/2". However, they are "findable." Plus, their costs aren't too bad, but usually a little higher than the 6-1/2". A lot depends upon condition!
