Scrubbed the barrel and put about 125 down the barrel now.

I also shimmed the bolt and will head to the range tomorrow.

Last time out I got better groups overall. Twice I had 2 bullets practically thru the same hole-but the 'groups' were little over 2" apart?? (four bullets-2 holes 2"-2.5" apart).

Im hoping the bolt shim helps. I know it wont make any inch+ difference. I need to check the stock clearance after the barrel warms up a little. The L side of the stock wants to keep touching the barrel at the tip of the stock.

The legacy of the 77/44. I've owned three. One was so horrendous it was sent back to Ruger, permanently. My second one was a tack driver, so I sold it? The third one was mediocre with all but one brand and weight of cartridge. And the ones that wouldn't shoot, there was no rhyme nor reason to the groups. They just moved all over the place.

And it's too bad. My 77/44's were very close to the perfect compromise. Easy to grab, easy to shoot, easy to carry. If I knew I could find another 77/44 that I could count on, accuracy-wise, I'd own another.

WAYNO.

Last trip w/ shimmed bolt was about 1 3/4" at 50 yrds for 8 shots. Much better.

Im about to load some more-some w/ NO crimp the others slightly above max (24 gr W296) and pretty good crimp. We will see.

Ive sanded the barrel channel and can pass a business card down it. The stock keeps crowding the barrel on the L side and have about 1/16" clearance on the right(the last 2" of the stock)??
