Just posted my brand new 77/44 on the classifieds. I bought it on a whim because i shoot and reload a lot of .44s in both special and magnum. Got a great deal on the 77/44 so I brought it home. After some research on the net I see that finding a reasonably accurate load for both revolvers and the little bolt action is a long shot. Anyone disagree? what are you feeding your 77/44? From what i've read it sounds like I am can be more accurate with any number of my revolvers, especially the long ones.

There seems it is a hit and miss issue (pun intended) with these. I work with a guy in Indiana who loves his. He says it is plenty accurate for the distances within the 44 magnums spectrum. Is yours the black / stainless or vista camo / stainless?
Of the three 77/44's I owned, the accuracy on my first one was so dismal that it went back to Ruger, never to be seen again. The 2nd one would shoot any and all loads wonderfully. That's the one I should have kept. My third one, was mediocre with most loads, with the exception of the Hornady LeverEvolution, which it shot quite well.
I think if a guy really spent the time to figure out just what loads his gun really preferred, the 77/44 is really quite a perfect little rifle, for the niche it fills.

I had hoped that this thing could, to at least some degree, share loads with my 44 revolvers. I know that each gun is going to have a favored load, but i liked the idea of having a little rifle that could digest the rounds in my ammo belt as easily as whatever revolver happened to be in the holster that day.

Some fellers claim to have improved accuracy by performing some bedding work. I've never tried. Some folks have said how they hold the rifle, or how they're cradled in a rest affects accuracy. These guns are not rocket science, and I keep hoping Ruger will figure out the cure for these rifles hit or miss accuracy.

I have a 77/44. I put a peep sight on it, and at 100 yds can hit a pie plate easily. My reloads are 240gr JSP/240gr lswc over 19.5 grs 2400. Works in RH, and SBH also. Good luck!

I had a second year production blue/walnut that gave good accuracy.
However I have reoccurring thoughts about a quality aftermarket barrel in a heavier contour and really good accuracy most aftermarket barrels give.... Either another 44 mag or even a 357 Bain Davis........

Try shooting a 240gr XTP bullet with 24.0gr of H-110 and see what you get. Kinda the 'gold standard' for 44 magnums.

That is pretty much my load-296 instead of 110-same powder.
I was able to obtain some Nosler bullets. Wish I could get some of the Nosler partitions--anyone??
My stock may be replaced. Ive sanded the barrel channel esp on the front 6-8" on the L side. It seems to just keep moving to the right. Maybe a Boyd thumbhole.
