77/22 Trigger

I have a 77/22 that by the serial number looks to be a 1986. Can anyone tell me what the weight of the trigger pull is likely to be or what range it is likely to fall in. I've owned the gun since about 1990, but just recently started shooting it regularly. The trigger seems heavy to me, but I've shot so little these past 20 years, I might not be the best judge. Mine was somewhere around six pounds, and a bit creepy and gritty. I put in a $21 Timney drop-in sear, which dropped it to a lovely, crisp 2.5-3 pounds, exactly where I wanted it. Money well spent!

How long ago the $21.. today they are $48!! Do you have an extra at $21??

Does anyone do triggers on a 77/44, same as a 77/22 as far as Timneys sear kit is concerned.

I have the opposite problem. Got my 77/22 in 1997 and shot it in smallbore silhouette, both local matches and at the nationals, and it always passed the trigger pull test (not less than two lbs.). Stopped competition in 2002 and started up again just this July. At the state match on Aug. 15th they checked the pull and said it was too light. So how does that happen and how does one make that kind of trigger heavier? According to the book it's a nonadjustable trigger.

Why would it be lighter??

I installed a Volquartsen in my 77/44 today and have to get to the range soon.

Thanks but your about 6 days late. I just installed a Volquartsen sear kit and the pull is reduced very nice.

PS-shot rifle and trigger pull is nicely reduced. I did notice the safety didn't work after the install. Filed slightly on the trigger and now it is fine.
