So is this the unannounced firearm of the contest, or what?rangerbob said:Jeff Quinn has a review of the new 5.56 Scout rifle at Gunblast.com. NATO chamber , 1 in 8" twist barrel, AI magazine, and the rest is just like the 7.62 model. Using the AI magazine is not going to help sales, in my opinion. Bob! 8)

You beat me to it. A "scout," by definition, has to be in an all-around, do-nearly-anything caliber such as .308 or something close to it. There's no such thing as a "5.56 scout rifle." It's like a handgun "ghost ring" sight--it doesn't exist. :evil:Nh Rugerman said:What a bummer, the Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle is modeled after the scout concept espoused by Jeff Cooper as an all purpose rifle with numerous qualities the Ruger does possess some but not all. He was adamant that the scout could not and should not be in 223/5.56 caliber...

If they're calling them "ghost rings," they're unclear on the concept. They're aperture or peep sights, period. You can't (or wouldn't want to) shoot a handgun close enough to your eye for the sight to "ghost" out, which is the whole idea of the thing. :roll:HIP SHOT said:They do make ghost ring pistol sights by the way..... http://www.handgunsmag.com/blogs/carry-on/ghost-ring-pistol-sights/

It makes length. It makes weight. But it's not in a proper scout caliber. Fail.bentblade said:Put a scout scope base and sights on this and you would have a pretty nice Scout rifle.
