45 LC/ACP, Flat Top, Blued, 4 5/8" Barrel, Lead Bullets?

I use these bullets in 45 ACP to a 454 Cusell. In the Cusell I like the Duplex 300 Gr and use Linotype for the base metal.

I have another Question For You all. Here is a list of my 45 caliber molds. Do any of you have a favorite among them or dislikes among them for this pistol?

** Use as cast and tumble lube
*** This is a Duplex mold by Mountain Molds. First you cast the nose out of pure lead the move the nose to the next cavity and cast the base out of a harder lead. This gives you a soft nose but a harder base on the bullet.

Welcome to the forum,

The 300 gr might be too long with the FT. Try the 454190 in the 45 Colt, and some of the SWC's in the ACP brass.

I use the top two of your LEE molds in 45 ACP.

I have a copy of the RCBS 270 SAA mold made by MP Molds and find it to be a great bullet.
This is my main go to bullet for all my 45 Colt (5) handguns and for two rifles.
Runs right at 285 grains from my alloy and gets sized at .452 and lubed with LBT Blue.
Brian Pierce did an article in Handloader magazine about this bullet and provided a wealth of
reloading information on it.

I have another custom MP Mold that was designed as a "Ruger Only" mold/bullet.
It allows me to cast either a HP design or a solid bullet.
The HP design comes in/at around 313 grains and the solid in at 335 grains.
I have sold quite a few of the RCBS and MP "Ruger Only" bullets to forum members
and all have reported excellant results.

Poke around a bit, last year in Handloader magazine Brian Pearce did an artice having specifically to do with the midframe flattop convertable .45's, and it was very enlightening, and readable.

I like the R.C.B.S. 45-230-CS Cowboy mold / bullet.
I cast them up and size and lube them to.452 for CAS and if wanted for high velocity
they are cast hard. If I want to shoot them in my SR1911 (and do lots) I push them
through a Lee .451 push through die before loading them in the .45 ACP.
They just work great. not one single feeding issue or leading problem. :wink:
