I wanted a longer ejector rod stroke. I chucked my base pin in a drill press and cut it off at the first groove from the tip.

I then smoothed it off with a file and emery cloth.

It gives me about 5/16 ths more ejector stroke, looks like it came that way and saved me about 30 bucks for buying a custom pin.

Two more tricks are cutting the spring a bit shorter then you can cut the pin off a little shorter.

The standard 4" rods are all too short from the cyl window by about 1/16" to 3/32". Additional improvement in ejection length can be had by getting the 5" rod and after shortening the front end of the rod inside the housing 1/16" or more, and cutting it off on the rear end flush with the inside frame surface of the cyl window.

Of course on barrel lengths longer than 4 5/8", one can install the 5" housing, spring and rod for complete ejection of 45 and 44 Mag cases.

I did get a ejector rod for a 10.5 " SBH and cut it a little longer than the stock item. With this addition it completely lifts the 45 Colt case from the cylinder.
