.45 Blackhawk SS ??

Ok, I admit being asleep on this matter. When did Ruger discontinue the SS Blackhawks in 45 Colt? Why on earth would they keep the blue ones and discontinue the SS ones? It seems to me the stainless ones would be more popular. Thanks

While I enjoy my Blackhawks in Stainless Steel, its hard to argue with the looks of a blued revolver. I think most people like the original look of the blued single action revolver.

I have absolutely no idea.

I would think hunters and outdoors users would want them in SS for ease of maintenance and finish.

I have mine though; 2 with 4 5/8" barrels I used in CAS at one time and one with a 7 1/2" barrel that I use to hunt on occasion. They aren't going anywhere. I don't have any blued ones in 45 Colt but have quite a few in other chamberings.

I never quite understood this either. From what is have read, I believe there will be batch runs available for these in the future. I hope anyway.

I kinda figured that maybe with the mid frame addition to the Blackhawk line something had to be deleted. I really have to believe that they will reinstate the .45s at some point in the near future.

I agree with AJOZ. The discontinuation makes little sense to me. Ruger kept the stainless versions of the 357 Blackhawks, the 44 Super Blackhawk, Single Sixes and some versions of the New Vaquero. The market must be too small for then to keep the 45LC versions or Yankee7809 is correct too.

I too prefer blued revolvers.

I miss them too. I have a blue Blackhawk .45LC/.45ACP convertible and wanted a SS one to go with it, then they quit making them. They may come back as distributer specials. I lucked out and stumbled into a convertible Bisley Blackhawk a few years ago at my favorite gun store which I guess was a limited run.

Nice engraving on the cylinder!!! That long cylinder,on my BFR .45-70 needs something like that.

I too thought the SS Bisley .45 convertible was a splendid idea and would be around forever. When I saw one at my favorite dealer's shop, I had some unexpected expenses of another nature and decided to wait. When the "gun money" account was flush again and I started my search, I discovered that those lovelies were AccuSport specials and the supply had dried up. I'm hoping some distributor will bring them back on the flat top frame. The .45ACP cylinder is the driving force behind this itch. I am sure Horton or Bowen and perhaps others could scratch the itch for me, but off the shelf would be nice. Good day, jack

Lipseys is currently offerring a run of blue 45 convertible flattops (midsize). Chatter has it that the number will be 500. (i got mine in 13 days)

Then there will be a run of 500 (chatter again) in stainless. Time to call your Lipsey dealer and get onboard.

I may end up with both.

And if enough interest is expressed maybe......just maybe we might see a Bisley Flattop 45 Colt run. There's a thread about that idea.
