45 Blackhawk Convertable

I'm ready to pull the trigger (Pun intended) on a NIB 45 Blackhawk Convertible. Two questions

Is there two fired cases, 45 Colt and 45ACP from Sturm and Ruger Company?

Is the Blued XR3-RED Grip Frame still Aluminum or is it Steel..................................

I think it will be only one fired case (I'm guessing) and the aluminum griprame.

If anything why wouldn't ruger include two cases just as a proof that the Gun will fire both calibers....................................

I believe the fored case this is for Law Enforcement in some jurisdictions. They want an example of the firing pin impression on file. So with a convertible, I think you'd only need a single fired case, in either caliber. But then again, we're talking about laws passed by antis....

I just want proof positive that the Gun will Fire both Calibers is all......................................

BTW mine had only one fired case. The impressions on the primer and web remain the same.

Wouldn't you need six fired cartridges from each cylinder to prove that it could fire both caliber's in all the different cylinder bores? I think you're worrying about it too much. Ruger only includes the fired case for LE purposes in certain jurisdicitons. Prior to anybody requireing it they didn't include a fired case. Buy with confidence, and great choice. I love the 45 Ruger's.

Just one fired case in mine. I have that gun in a 4 5/8 length and even with the aluminum grip frame it's still a hefty piece of hardware. Enjoy.

The factory fired a 38Special.

Just for the record - the Stainless Steel .45 Colt/.45 ACP convertibles (mine is a Bisley) have steel grip frames.

My blued version has a single .45 Colt fired case and an aluminum XR3-RED style grip frame.

Well, actually, I've replaced the XR3-RED with a steel Super Blackhawk "Dragoon" grip frame.

Bought mine new early this year, came with just a fired 45 colt case and grip frame is aluminum.

The 'S' stamped in the face of each cylinder is your proof the gun has been tested.

Do some jurisdictions require you to supply the fired case for storage at time of purchase to the local sheriff? Or are you as the original purchaser required to keep and transfer with the sale of the pistol/revolver the fired case. Otherwise what purpose does it serve if you can just throw it into the garbage? If you were going to commit a crime couldn't you just pull the firing pin and alter it to not match up? I can only see the value if it was a proof type load to show that the gun didn't blow up at least with one stout load. It might blow up on stout load #2 but thats for a different post :roll:
