44mag carbine: loose pin on top of lifter latch?

I picked up a nice clean, but enjoyed, 44 mag carbine the other day for a nice price. Now I know why! :( (Ser. no. 100-32xxx).
Would not feed when test fired. On another forum, I found a reference to a loose pin in the shell lifter. On close inspection I found that the pin at the top of the lifter latch (that must slip between the two sides of the lifter) had worked loose and slipped to one side, catching on the shell lifter.

I pushed the pin back in place and the lifter seems to work smoothy now. (I have not re-testfired yet but hand manipulation seems to be fine).

Question:
How do I keep the pin from moving in the future? :shock:
Anyone else have this problem? (If been addressed on the forum, I couldn't find it)

Wanted one of these when they came out in the '60s. Finally! :D Seems like a sweet piece. :D

Have not encountered this problem. But a walking pin is fairly easy to fix. If it is a fairly tight fit a bit of loc tite will solve the problem usually. If it is real sloppy just make a new pin out of drill rod.
