I have 44 special. The sight is too Short. Does anyone have the sameProblem. Is the only fixed sending it back to the factory. The Barrel is 4 5/8

I assume its a Ruger? Vaquero, or Blackhawk?

I have an aversion to returning a gun to the factory. If its a Blackhawk, your gunsmith can mill off the blade and slot the ramp for a new front sight that can be either pinned in or drilled and tapped for a screw. I prefer using a tension pin.

Welcome to the forum.

I agree with Bob.

If you mean your FRONT sight, and the gun shoots high, Bob's solution is a good one. You can also file down the rear sight blade if it's a Blackhawk.

If it's a Vaquero, The front sight needs to be replaced by soldering. That means if it's a blue gun, it's needs re-bluing.

If you decide to send back to Ruger, make sure you get a free shipping label from them.

That's what I'd do or use it as an excuse to have a lot more work done. ;)
