I'm having it difficult trying to get all these frame styles in my head. Are the .44 sp. build on a different frame than the .44 mag or .45, and if so..how would they stand up with "keith loads" in moderation

Thanx in advance :)

Yes, the new Ruger 44 Specials are built on a smaller frame. It is similar in size to the old model 357. As far as the Keith loads go, they will handle it but with the availability of the 44 Mag, why punish gun or gunner?

The 44 special frames are ideal for fun / trail packing. I'd stick to the larger 44 magnum Blackhawk frame for a huntin' rig. Like Robb says, why punish the gun or gunner. Still, some milder Buffalo Bore specials would probably be o.k. but not for an older S&W triple lock.

gents..thanx for the learned advice... I'm glad to have that cleared up.
No it wouldn't be a major hunting gun, and the buffalo bores sounds like a viable alternative for hotter loads..
