Correspondent on another forum claims to have a Ruger .44 Magnum Blackhawk, apparently a New Model, and apparently not a Flat Top.

My recollection of the Blackhawk in .44 Magnum were the Three Screw Flat Tops of the 'Sixties vintage, which were discontinued shortly after introduction of the Super Blackhawk. Then the Fiftieth Anniversary Flat Tops wewre introduced. From what I have read, the gun in question is a New Model Blackhawk in .44 Magnum. Can this be?

My thinking is that a .44 Magnum is either a Super Blackhawk, or a Flat Top. Please elucidate.......

Bob, I read the same post and also tried to determine what he or his friend has. I think it is a SBH but he keeps calling it a BH.

I wish I still had it but I bought a very early 5 1/2" .44 Magnum and the frame was stamped "Blackhawk". I don't remember how long ago it was but at a minimum 25 years because we were still in our previous home in the country because I took it home and shot it in the back yard.

I was surprised when I got it home and saw the marking but didn't think much of it at the time, just figured they needed some frames and they were already stamped.

Perhaps a Bisley Blackhawk? Weren't some of the 44 Bisley frames marked 'Blackhawk'? ...and perhaps the gripframe and parts changed out?
