How many Rugerites still shoot 44-40's and what type of firearm. I have a short barreled Vaquero in 44-40 that I love to shoot and sometimes carry as a woods gun.

Hmmm, you do realize that around where I live "Rugerites" is likely to get pronounced something like "rug rats"... LOL

I had a couple Vaqueros I traded off fun to shoot but Ruger put 429 barrels
on them not a good combo with 427 projectiles accuracy suffered greatly. ps

I shoot a Bowen conversion of an OMBH in 44 WCF, also a third gen Colt and a Rossi clone of a Winchester model 92. Of course I re-load for it and use .427 bullets.

SAA's
Pair of Ruger Vaquero's 7 1/2" barrels
Pair of USFA's 7 1/2" barrels :) son likes so spends a lot of time in his safe
Pair of Colt 3rd gen 5 1/2" barrels :D
Engraved Texas Longhorn Arms .44mag/ .44WCF cylinder Only one Bill Glover made

Rifles
Rossi 92 Short rifle
Uberti 73 Carbine
Have not found a Marlin in .44-40 when I could buy  , some day though.

You could say that the .44 WCF is the cartage I like best.

All lube is SPG!
Deer Load: Case full of FFFg black powder less bullet seating area. 1/16"-1/8" compact of powder. Felt Lubed Wad. 200 gr big lubed RNFP bullet, tight crimp.
Light load for pistol only: 18-20 gr of FFFg. Grits to seating depth of bullet. 1/16"-1/8" compact of powder. Felt Lubed Wad. 200 gr big lubed RNFP bullet, tight crimp.

Unfortunately, my .44 WCF is not a Ruger, it's a 5.5" barrel Cimmaron Colt Frontier clone. It is nicely accurate. I've only shot a handful of factory loads thru it. Mostly I reload 200 gr. 0.429" cast bullets from a Lee mould or Hornady's swaged Cowboy bullets, both over Unique or SR4756.

Pistol
2-7 1/2"Vaqueros one blues one stainless
Colt 1st gen SAA 4 3/4" barrel
Colt 3rd gen New Frontier 4 3/4" barrel with extra 44spl cylinder

Rifle
Winchester 92 circa 1912
Rossi 92
Remington rolling block

I have a Rossi 92 and 2 Italian single action revolvers. I picked up a pile of brass and 200 gr .426 cast bullets pretty cheap. I really enjoy shooting the .44-40, just need to find more time to do so!!

Two stainless Old Vaquero 4 5/8 44/40 and original Winchester 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine

Two Stainless Old vaquero 4 5/8 38/40 and original Winchester 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine

I SASS shoot the 44's when at a match with flopper targets and the 38's (40cal actually) when no floppers

I don't but my brother uses and reloads that caliber for CAS, so a pair of SAA and a lever gun.

Lotssa Rugers, but my only 44-40 is a Cimarron Colt Clone. 4 5/8" bbl - my fav for a SA. I have a few and carry them all at times. This one has .430 cylinder throats, so it is a pita to load! I load a Lee 429-200 FP cast, that drops @~215 grns! size to .430. I have to get the case sized to within .001" and bullet seated to within ~.003 or chambering is a 1 or 0! But it shoots well, is very cool and I love in spite of it being like a hot redhead female (of which I am also married too!)!

As I had mentioned previously, my 44-40 Vaquero has the same diameter chambers and bore as the Ruger 44 magnum. I load cast 430'' bullets in mine and get fine accuracy. Matter of fact I did fit a 44 mag cylinder to my 44-40 Vaquero so that I may shoot 44 Specials interchangeably.
