Hi Folk's, I know this isn't Ruger specific & hope it's ok to ask. Do you folk's know if anyone manufactures a 1911 in .40 S&W ? Hoping to find one in Commander size that's affordable-Thank's for any help-Dave

Right bore .... Wrong caliber ....

Now that's just funny! :lol:revhigh said:No ... Simply because the 1911's themselves would never allow that crappy caliber to ever pass through its barrel.

10mm is a good caliber, wish I had kept my Delta Elite.ArmedinAZ said:revhigh said:gmartinnc said:I had a 10mm Colt Delta Elite once. It was a 1911. Does that count?

Hard to beat magnum ballistics, and feed reliability of the Sig round. Child's play for an all steel 1911.

Only problem with a .40 conversion kit for (any) 1911 is that you'd have to swap out the frame-mounted ejector, which isn't impossible but is a big PITA*. (This is handled on .22LR conversions by fixing the ejector to the barrel, but this isn't possible on the bigger .40.)eveled said:Snake45 said:Unless one has access to unlimited FREE .40 ammo, I can't see the point of a .40 1911. The only thing better than that would be free unlimited .45 acp!
I can see not wanting to add another caliber to stock/reload for. The trouble in this case is .40 1911's seem to be scarce. Good luck, when I googled it, there are lots of references to them. Then when I went to the manufactures pages, there were none listed.
If Ruger came out with caliber exchange kits for the SR1911, I bet .40 would be a good seller. .22lr would be nice too! Ed

To the op I'm only aware of sti putting the .40 in a 1911 platform. The last couple of years I have began to really enjoy the .40's and would like 1911 in .40 the only this GS that bother me is the small primers and the . 40 cases get stuck inside my .45 cases.
I can't wait to hear the wisdom and experience the almighty rev will bestow on us the less knowledgeable and unworthy
