Will a holster for an S&W 629 (4 in) interchange with a 4 in Redhawk ? Anyone have both ? There a several holsters for the 629 but very few for the 4 in 'Hawk. Thanks in advance. I am looking for a high quality pancake for concealment and hunting.

Thanks !

generally..... no... not if it is a formed holster. Ruger is abit beefier. A generic holster may work. but who wants one of those!

The one that I have does. Another issue to take under consideration is that the new models are actually 4.2" to meet Canadian guidelines, so closed end holsters MAY not work. Check to see if it is an open or closed holster, and check to see if your gun is 4" or 4.2" Or you can just get a Simply rugged, Mernickle, http://www.diamonddcustomleather.com/Holsters.php All of them have something that will work.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will look at diamond and mernickle. I already have an Aker open bottom pancake for my 629. The 4.2 length is a good point to consider. I'll have to see when the 'Hawk comes in. Two years ago I carried a 5.5" Bisley on an AK moose hunt in an El Paso Tanker Holster. I wore it 16 hours a day fro two weeks. It was very comfortable. I also thought I might get the same shoulder rig for the Hawk. It's nice to have a shoulder rig when wearing waders.

Thanks again !

Andy

For a comfortable, versatile holster that really protects the gun, I like this Simply Rugged. It can be worn crossdraw, strongside, or on the chest with optional harness.
