My favorite gun out of my 3 Rugers. The .357magnum New vaquero. I'm making random videos. and this shows the recoil difference in the 2 calibers fired from the same gun.

I always tell people the difference between shooting a .38 Special and a .357 Magnum at least in a small frame gun anyways is like the difference between telling your wife you looked at another woman and telling your wife to get out she's been replaced. One can be mild, the other a downright slap in the face!

When I shoot 38 spcl out of my Red Hawk 71/2", it feels like a .22. Even with this heavy gun, 357 mag lets you know that you have some power there.

Interesting video - thanks for sharing. Another thing that makes a difference is the gun from which a given round is fired. On a few occasions I have been shooting with a friend who has one of those lightweight S&W snub nosed .38 Specials. I don't know the model number but it is small and very light. I have a Ruger GP 100 6 inch stainless and we were shooting out of the same box of .38 Spl ammo taking turns with each of the guns. The difference in felt recoil was amazing.

I know its frowned upon in some circle but I get an absolute hoot from alternately loading specials and magnums in the same cylinder... especially .44s

Sometime my buddies and I we'll load each others revolvers in some random pattern and hand it back... everyone knows of course, you just don't know what your gonna get when you pull the trigger. Not sure if its good or bad as far as creating or taming flinch mechanisms....
