38 Bullet

Finally a little break in orders & needing bullets for myself to feed a hungry 38 I fired up the Master Caster. The first of these manual casting machines I purchased from a guy in New Jersey came with a Saeco/Redding 928 mould. This is for the 38 Super though it can be used as a 9MM heavy bullet. The first ones I cast several years ago were plenty large enough to size .358 so tried them in my 38 & found they worked great. They are excellent with 3 grains of Bullseye but these days I’m running them with 3 grains of Promo & a HMF primer. These things move through a speed loader like corn through a goose.

What's the clothspin for on the caster?

The metal divider separating the sprues & bullets doesn't extend low enough for the setup I was using that day so I extended it with a thin piece of cardboard & used the clothespin to hold it.

The oglive looks like it has eyes for the cyl !!

A bit longer than the 358311 ???

Will they still be in the cyl if using 357 brass ??

GP cyls. measure 1.600" so ya have some wiggle room.

.670 OAL of bullet. I'll measure the OAL of a loaded round but it's bedtime.

Thanks for the OAL Creeker , I ran into some blocks at a vendor at GS & noticed he had some molds with "wings" on the sprue plate ,but passed because of length & lack of crimpin groove , but now realize I could`ve just crimped over the front band , as I`m gettin older I have more & more DUH moments rite after a CRS attack !!!

I seat these just past the front band a barely crimp. If you want a few I'll send you some in the raw for you to size & lube. Have about 1700 laying here & I won't miss a 100.

Swapped lubers last night to the one with Carnuba Red. Sized 500 or so & changed the Dillon from seating a WC to RN. Loaded about 30 to be sure everything was ready to go. I'll leave the machine set this way & load a few now & then between bullet orders.
