Ooops I thought it was a guessing game.

Well ...... that's sure a possibility and that I didn't "get" the intent ......

I guess it was a guessing game.
didn't have my hands on it, all I had was a description
& photo of serial #. My son was thinking of buying it &
wanted to know what it is. He didn't have it in his hands
either.
Thanks for your help

Gotta. You can Google a search for ruger blackhawk. Vaquero, and Redhawk serial numbers to help narrow it down next time. So the question is did yall get the gun? And what was it?

don't know if he got it or not. the guy is selling it for his grandmother
he says she wants 400 for it so I don't know. I am not into single
actions, I only have 1 which is a 55 flat gate.

If the serial number has a prefix,,, then yes,,, you can narrow down what it is. BUT,,,,,,,,, in the Old Models,,, you can identical serials for different guns. All before the GCA of 1968.

it turned out to be:
Ruger .357 magnum cal. shipped in 84
new model BLACKHAWK
4 5/8" barrel
with white plastic grips, Ruger emblems in them.
His grandmother wanted to get rid of it.
anyone know how common it is
