350 Round SR9 Update

So after about 250 rounds, here's a status update.

1. Took a look at the barrel to see if is was peening. It appeared to have a very slight bur on it. Took a fine grit dremel bit to it and removed it as well as created a little slant to hopfully keep the problem from reoccuring. I was definitely not sending it back as I just bought it. I then polished that part and took it to the range to make sure it resolved the issue.

2. So at the range I have worked my way down from 147gr all the way to WWB and this time out, about 75 WWB fired, and zero jams. Actually none at all this time out....first time it shot with zero issues!

So basically pretty pleased with the gun. It seems to be broken in. Just curious about the peening. I guess I thought it was better now to fix the problem before it got worse.....hope it ends here.

I was also curious about the slide lock, now that it has loosened up nicely...

Should I be using it when I put a mag in and am getting ready to shoot? I wasn't sure if it would further down the road lead to any problems if I kept on using it, as opposed to pulling the slide back and letting it snap forward to load the casing.

IMO they appear to do the same thing and in the same manner, but wasn't sure if one was better than the other...

Shouldn't matter one bit if you let the slide move forward using the slide lock or the pull and snap method if there is a round in the chamber or a round will be chambered by this action. I was told by the old salt at the gun shop I purchased my SR9 at to try not to use the slide release UNLESS there was a round in the chamber. When I asked why, he indicated it's just not a good idea to have that metal to metal slamming going on. Sort of made sense, but in all honesty, can't say if it matters or not. I guess I just got into the habit of not using the release unless a round is chambered, or will be chambered by the action of the release.
