Def can't see it as a rifle round, pretty unexcited about the Smith X-frame too, and I'm a Smith and Wesson FREAK!

Basically designed to bypass the "I states" straight wall cartridge/shotgun slug regulations. Compared to a 12 ga, it's a considerable step up and it puts an AR in the big bore category w/o the recoil of a 458 Socom or 450 BM.
I'm right on the Iowa/MO border and lots of places are selling the heck out of 350 Legend in any/all long gun configurations.
