327/32H&R

Just loaded some RimRock 130 gr. SWC's for my 327 Fed Mag. Noticed that the OAL was just short of the 32 H&R cylinder on my Bisley SSM. Should I ?

I wouldn't think the 327 would fit in a .32 H&R chamber . . . that's determined by case length, not OAL.

Many have, but I surely wouldn't.

.32 H&R operates at approx 36,000 PSI

327 operates at approx 45,000 PSI

The little SSMs were not designed for the 327, so it's your gun & your money.

We will likely now hear from those who disagree with this.

I wouldn't ream it out either, if you want a 327, buy a 327, safer in the long run.

hmmmmm.....what does the Single Seven do to a Single Six other than the cylinder notches offset and maybe a few more thousanths of cylinder length? How many Six's have been converted without issues....

The 32 mag is quite useful in its own right. Don't ream it.

I own several 32 H&R mag SIngle-Sixes. I also own a Buckeye 32-20/32 Mag that someone reamed the 32 mag cylinder to 327. I also enjoy owning a Blackhawk in 327 mag as well as one of the new 327 Single-Sevens.

The 32 mag Single-Sixes should be left as is, if nothing more than for safety as to the markings on the gun & somebody eventually overloading a 327 & putting it in that gun. You & I do not have the information on how Ruger heat treated the cylinders, or what type of steel was used.

My Buckeye was built on the Blackhawk sized frame and as such is built differently.

I agree with the folks above, don't ream a 32 maggie to .327.

I think they got it corn-fused with the 357 & 44 magnums as to the pressure. The 32 mag is indeed 21000 (sad to say - darn H&R pot-metal fishing weights).

I do not plan on reaming any of my 32 H&R guns. Of course, I have 7 Rugers in 327 and a Taurus as well :mrgreen:

Yep, you're right about that . . . my bad. :oops: :oops: :oops:

However, the SAAMI spec for the 327 is still as I posted, so the difference is even worse than I implied.

I'll stick with "I wouldn't do it."

I have been using the Rim Rock 125 gr. Keith style SWC. I also size this bullet down to .309 and use in my OMBH 30 Carbine.
