Anyone seen a 3 screw .30 Carbine 4 5/8" from the factory? What would one in 90% cond. unconverted, no box, be worth? $450 ??

Perhaps if I knew I could find ammo for it, that I could afford ammo to shoot it and I really liked that cal...
$450 for 90% condition is pretty 'borderline', see them aroundhere for that price and better condition, 95%, and I sold one for another guy last show, 98% in the box, for $600..........make them an offer,doesn't hurt to "try"

Nope, Ruger never made the 30 carbine in any other barrel length than 7-1/2". I'd call it a $350 at best.
There is a 6" on GB (that looks 5 1/2 to me.) http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=346130744 and this owner swears he bought this 4 5/8" new from Ruger. I guess I will have to pay the fee to get a letter on it. I told him I never knew there was a 4 5/8.

Kinda doubt it was 4-5/8" from the factory. I'd sure be getting a letter on that one.
Without a letter I'd call it a $350 - $400 conversation starter, and interesting at that.

yea, mine were all 'stock', as noted above they only came in the longer barrel.......we 'missed' that part, the one you are looking at is most likely cut down, and it's bad enough how much powder burns out "in front" of the 7 1/2 inch barrel, imagine the shorter barrel, yikes talk about a "ball of fire".... :shock:

Mr. Bill made them in 7 1/2" ONLY for a reason. Shoot some Military Surplus out of that Baby and see what happens.
Have had a few of the 3 screw 7 1/2"ers and they are GREAT guns.
Now if you wanted a 3 screw short barrel.
Gun 90% $300-350 have the barrel cut $125 so that is your price.

Jim, I haven't seen a decent three-screw .30 Carbine go for that kinda money for quite a while. I'd suggest you buy all of 'em you can for that, and then sell 'em here for what they actually seem to bring.
I could be wrong, of course. Perhaps they're cheaper in your part of the country . . . or I'm just out of touch.

I paid $350 for a 98% one I had. Bought one with a Brass grip frame for $500 a few years ago that was nice. Sold both grip frame and gun.
They are out there.
I sold a Real nice one to a RF member with Dies, brass, mil. ammo, and stuff I loaded at a real good price.

Jim, I agree that it's all in what you consider 90% to mean. I have yet to be able to define the condition percentages to such a degree that I can visualize a gun based on that alone . . . I gotta see it and decide if it's "nice" enough, and then determine my "gotta have it" factor for the piece in question.
the front section of the Blue Book, look at the pictures, 90% condition is NOT real nice............as Jim noted, for the longest time, the .30 carbine has been a real hard, slow "mover' around here, I bought a boxed 3 digit gun some time back for $350 , in the low #5xx range, sold it much later, and only got $450 out of it, and it was MINT,,,,,,,,,,,

I Might have a 30 Cal. Barrel the correct lenght.
Yea those plinkers are great and a lot of fun. I have some old ones that I loaded in the Carbine and the 30-30 rifle. You can load them up to haul arsh
Yep, and you're also in the neighborhood of the 327 Federal Magnum and the .32-20.
