.223 or 5.56x45 or both?

Just purchase a new Ruger Mini 14 Ranch Rifle, Serial No. Prefix is 581, made in 5/2009. Can I shoot 5.56x45 ammo in this rifle safely.

yes acording to the owners manual it is safe unless its the new target models the must be tighter. and i have fired both 5.56 and 223 in my mini -14s.
