,22 WMR for self defense

Agreed. Too heavy on the marketing hype. That said, I'm a fan of .22wmr, and have tried a variety of them, including the Hornady 45grn,Aguila, CCI, Federal, etc., out of rifles and handguns. They all work well on small varmints like raccoons, armadillo, even groundhog. But you can expect to pay $20 & up for a box of 50 no matter what brand or load, even in MS.

.22wmr has come long way since I first started using it about 53 years ago. My advice if someone is interested in it, is to pick up a box of each you might like and try it out on something that's breathing up to coyote size. Placement still matters. Don't waste your time (or money) with gel, or water bottles, etc. :)

Would have been more informative and impressive if they hadn't shown mostly centerfire guns and ammo . . . not to mention the AI narration.
Yeah, I saw those What??? But the gel test and some of the new SD ammo was interesting.
What really got me to watch was something for my wife

I believe Bill Jordan was asked what caliber/handgun he would grab first.
He answered whatever one was closest to his hand.
Saw a news report about a guy at convenience store getting into an argument in the parking lot.
Bad guy drew .22 and shot once.
Other man died on the spot. Hit his heart.
.22's (and other calibers) are no joke.

Wouldn’t be my first choice but the .22 WMR is a solid step up from a clenched fist. I have a kit gun in WMR and I’ve been a big fan for a few decades. The ammo has always been pricey but you can’t put a price on pleasure.

Much like what folks used to say about American Express.
I never leave home without it.

Better than throwing a rock I guess. I have an Old Model Singe Six and a Marlin 783 that shoot 22 WMR but I will choose something else for defense.

The gel tests shown in this are somewhat deceiving since no actual measurements other than penetration distance were provided. There's dozens of better and more informative gel tests of this ammo on YouTube.

My little LCPII loaded with 10 rounds of Stinger, in a Desantis pocket holster is ultra convenient to slip into my jeans pocket before leaving the house. I won't say its my EDC, but I find I grab this little gun more and more often especially when dressed in shorts during hot weather. Carrying this I feel as well prepared as when I used to carry a 5 round 38 Special revolver.

I would take a a .22 WMR or even LR defense round over a .25, .32, or .38 in a heartbeat. Three bigger rounds that are damn near worthless. The first 2 are slow tumblers, and I have seen a .38 bounce off a windshield. So yeah, use that .22 WMR defense round. SIDE NOTE: I have also seen a .22 short bounce off a forehead. LOL.
