218 Bee Conversion

I just added this set of high figure claro walnut to my 218 Bee conversion. Thought a picture may be in order:

The grips were done by Carl Schultz and I'm really pleased with how they turned out. Matte finish, flat bottoms, and little more width towards the top.

Very nice. You do seem to favor the long barrels. Is the .218 as accurate in a short revolver barrel as opposed to a longer rifle barrel?

Thanks Kevin. I prefer 5 - 6" barrels but on bottleneck rounds I like 7 - 8". This set-up will send 46 grain JSPs to 2,000 fps. The same load from a rifle goes 2,600. Velocity aside, the gun is extremely accurate with many combinations printing 1.0" or less @ 25 yards from the bench.

Great looking! I'm considering having Reeder convert a ss .357 NMBH into one and was considering 'barrel length'. Think I'll go 8", yours looks 'right'.

Lee, i have a 14" bull barrel on one of my Contenders, it is one of my favorite calibers, the guys in Idaho, across the river from me, use the .218 Bee to take Lions that are up in the trees, one of them has a 7.5" SAA colt that was converted.

Yep....a guy named Steve Mathes converted a Colt SAA to .218 back in the 1940's for the same purpose (dispatching bobcats and mountain lions from trees).

That is another caliber I don't own but want to play with. I remember reading an article in Shooting Times by Bob Miculec (?) about shooting rabbits with a 218 Bee in a Contender as a kid. I have wanted one ever since.

That is one nice gun I shot 218 Bee in rifle for ground hogs on my friends farm here in Front Royal I wish he would sell it to me never seen one in a singleaction

We're real close then because I'm two minutes from the fish hatchery on Wakeman Mill Road.

I live off Mountain Rd. Do you own the property on the left side of Wakeman Mill Road with the pond on it?We are real close I bet I have heard you shooting from my front porch.

If you're going toward the fish hatchery on Wakeman Mill Rd, we're on the left side (steel gate and stone pillars out front). We do have a pond but it's not visible from the road.

And ya, I'm probably the one you hear shooting (mostly on Saturdays). Stop by sometime.
