well unfortunatly it wasent a good day . i went to range this morning took my new sr9c and my gp100 327 mag as usual the gp100 was flawless i wish i could say the same for the sr9c. im not trashing this model of gun or ruger for that matter i own or have owned plenty of rugers over the years never a prob . the gun feels good in my hands with either mag and handles great the recoil is next to nothing the grouping was good and after i adjusted the rear sight it hit where i was aiming . but unfortunatly right out of the gate 4 light strikes in the 1st mag through it then 3 or 4 more the 2nd mag i kept shooting the more i shot the better it got i managed to get a couple mags full through it with no issues but for the most part i averaged at least 1 light strike per every 10 rounds . i put 170 rounds through it 50 were precision delta 115 gr fmj the next 100 were 124 gr lrn (my own cast) then 20 more 124 gr truncated cone (also my own cast) all were loaded with magtech primers i realize magtech isnt top of the line but ive fired thousands of them before with no probs. i did tear the gun down and clean it the day i bought it but i didnt mess with the fireing pin assembly . i recently had an issue like this with my taurus pt100 so i took a can of rem oil put the straw on the spray nozzle and flushed the hell out of the fireing pin assembly and it was fine after that. so i tried the same today when i got home with the ruger i got some gunk out of it so maybe that was the prob im not sure . i plan on loading up a couple hundred rounds this week with remington primers and try it out next weekend if its still the same i guess it will have to go back to ruger .

had the same prob with mine..tried the cleaning of striker channel with no luck.Sent to ruger they replaced striker assembly and striker blocker. I have only fired 27 rounds since I got it back with no problems.

Heck, most people would be happy it fed three completely different types of reloads.
I would recommend shooting some factory ammo just to get a feel for the gun. I do realize that the SR9C has had this issue, at least some of them, I shot one for a day and had one lightstrike out of about 150 with very good factory ammo.

...but I've shoot others, many times with hundreds of various rounds and never had an issue.

My four year old SR9 has never had this problem and god knows I've shot the crap out of it.

Try some factory stuff, if that doesn't work, give Ruger a call.

I bought the Galloway heavy striker spring. You could try that, it's $10.00 and you probably won't have to send it back to Ruger. Here is the site. Good Luck.

Sorry to read of the tough start Sandman. I would recommend removing the striker assembly and cleaning before sending in as there have been a couple reports that solved their issue. Prob. try some factory ammo also as Cheese suggested and establish a baseline reliability. If that doesn't do it then certainly send it in.

But I would send it back to Ruger before I installed new parts. I just think it's best they know there was a problem, before you void the warranty. Then if the problem is something more serious than what most of us had, you'll still get a free fix.

I fired 50 rounds from my new SR40c today, I also had one light strike, after resetting the trigger it fired the second time. I have cleaned the striker channel. If I get anymore light strikes I will do the same thing I did on my SR9c and order the Galloway heavy striker spring.I would recommend you send it to Ruger as the other people said. I don't like to send my guns in, to much hasel and you don't have them for a while. It's easier for me to just put the striker spring in and be done with it. If the striker spring didn't fix it then I would put the factory spring back in and send it to Ruger. They will take care of it. Ruger does know there is a problem to many people having this issue.

I must be lucky. Several hundred rounds of reloads, store bought Winchester White Box, and even some Fiocchi through mine. No issues what so ever. I love my SR9c and will never part with it.

jstanfield is smarter than I, I will not break the gun down any further than the manual says, cauce I'm afraid I won't get it back together. I am by no means talented with either patience or the inner workings of fireams. I completely understand his position, if I could I would, but I can't so I don't.

... before you void the warranty...

That is not correct. From Ruger's SR9c owner's manual:

"Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. has elected not to
provide any written warranty, either “limited” or “full”, rather than to
attempt to comply with the provisions of the Magnuson-Moss Act and
the regulations issued thereunder."

There is no warranty to void.

Ruger is an honorable outfit and has a long history of making things right, regardless of the age of the firearm and owner history.

If you do end up sending a firearm to Ruger, it will be returned to factory specs.

I had no idea they would repair things we do to our guns, great news and thank you. I knew Ruger was a fine company, never doubted that.

i called ruger yesterday had a bit of a wait time on hold but not to bad i was 7th in line when i called. i had a few hours yet till i had to go to work so i waited it out i talked to a woman in the service dept she seemed very nice i told her what the prob was and asked her if i had to send the gun in or if they could just send me a striker assembly she said they would send 1 out to me and that there might be a return envelope to send the old striker back for them to look at . so hopfully this will cure the prob .
