17 HMR split case neck

Anyone else have this problem?About 6yr old 17HMR Target gray heavy barrel.Just noticed last week that I am getting split case neck's.CCI and Hornady,makes no difference which brand necks still split.Usually about 1/3 of what I shoot end up with slpit neck's.
Any thoughts?.

Does it affect anything? I think if it is causing some ills I would contact the ammomaker and the gun manufacturer otherwise I don't see it as of any consequence. That is, unless you wants to reload these. I don't shoot the 17HMR but I pick up a lot of brass and notice a lot of splits like that.

Where are the splits in relation to the firing pin dent, if in the same place, it might be eroding your chamber in that location. The more I think about it no case should be splitting. I would contact the manufacturer of the ammo and gun and talk to them about it.

Splits happen. As far as I can tell from posts I've seen and from my own experience, some cases just aren't up to the job. I had about five or six split cases from a box of fifty Remingtons once. None since.
