I searched but there doesn't seem to be much talk about this 1911 in 10mm.
Is there any excitement about it?

Then when I read the 10mm has ballastics close to the 41mag that sounds better?

Urban legend. The 10 is much closer to the 357 than the 41. It is really only close to the 41 in diameter.

Well I guess that may depend on the gun ;-)
But I must admit that 10mm ammo has come a long ways, albeit still not quite 41 magnum.
You can get a 180 grain bullet moving a lot faster than 1250 from a 357 as well.
I stand by my previous remark that a 10 is closer to the 357 in performance than the 41.
the 10mm is plenty adequate for deer and hogs

I will agree with you there, and this new offering from Ruger is really testing my resolve. I just take exception with the tale that a 10mm is equal to a 41 ;-)
Rei40c said:I'm in very interested in this, enough to buy. The only problem I have with it is not the firearm at all, or even the caliber exactly. It's wondering if the 10mm will really be popular enough so that in the future even looking 15-20 years down the road I may find ammunition for it on the shelf and at a reasonable price.
I remember a few years back 10mm was attempting to make a come back in the market where a variety of popular semi auto's appeared commonly on the shelves in gun shops everywhere. My understanding that compared to 9mm and .45 ACP is was the least popular in sales across all manufacturers. The 10mm craze flopped more or less.
So just speaking for myself this is an important factor in buying. I really like Rugers 1911 10mm but I don't want to inherit an ammo finding headache for years to come. Or sticker shock when I do find it.
closer to the 41 ballistics than 357
