10/22 Takedown Rail/Mount Question

I recently got a 10/22 takedown and a Simmons 3-9x32 silver scope to go with it. The rail that comes with the 10/22 is a little too far forward for the scope to fit into the bag even with the scope shifted all the way back. I've heard mention of replacement rails that go an inch further back. It would also be useful to use the iron sights with the scope in place or removed and the factory rail doesn't allow that. Additionally I saw some mounts that had the rings integrated with the base. That seems like another good alternative.

So are there any good suggestions that fit those ideas that have been used on the takedown? As is probably evident from the Simmons scope, I'm not looking to spend a fortune but if the right solution comes along, I'm open minded.

Thanks.

I use this Weaver base on all of mine, it doesn't extend beyond the front of the receiver, it will accept Weaver or Picatinny style rings, and is less than $8 from Amazon.com

The rearward extension seems to be the best option. Do you know how long that rail is behind the rear most mount?

If that option isn't long enough, I might see if I can have a local company machine me something that will work. As for the cantilever mounts, most of those seem to be made for AR-15s and are a really high rise, not to mention expensive.

I just ordered one of these for my 10/22 TD, with Silver Leupold VX-1 3-9x40 scope . It is not the cheapest, it is silver aluminum and it is American-made.

HTH.
YMMV.
(Personally, I am still waiting for Hogue to come out with an Overmolded Stock for the 10/22 TD)
Good luck and enjoy your 10/22 TD.
