10/22 compact

I have a compact I purchased a couple of years ago, the bolt seems loose in the receiver, rattles both side to side and up and down. Other than the rattle, any concerns? I have several other 10/22's, none that have anything like this issue. Suggestions appreciated.

Pull the bolts and use a caliper to compare height and width. If the compact bolt is significantly under-sized, contact Ruger and let them know. They'll likely ask you to send the rifle back so they can take care of it.

I'd probably see how well it shoots first but probably take the advise above if there was any question .... not that expensive to send it back to Ruger for a check up.

Thanks, I got it for my wife and hadn't paid that much attention to it until I was going to loan it to a friend for a youngster to shoot. I had it apart but didn't think about calipers to check dimensions.

Or just swap bolts between guns and see if the loose fit follows the compact bolt.

I e mailed Ruger, they had me send it in, they put new rod in it , much better now.
