I am trying for 224000 FPS on my .44, full case of Bullseye then compressed 250 grain Keith.I first thought "FPS" thinking "Feet Per Second" not "Frames Per Second."
High speed photography has come a LONG way & is amazing to watch.
Saw that!In the "224,000 FPS" sequence, there's a little puff of hot gas/flame that exits the barrel AHEAD of the bullet - pretty interesting!

Side note... how many of you have actually seen a bullet in flight, not a tracer, as it travels?
I did, and I'm pretty sure it was a 357 round but could have been a 38, friend was shooting at a target probably 50 yards away very late afternoon... and I could track the rounds .... I was standing a good ways off to the side, probably 30 feet or so.
Rifles, 308, 3006 and even .223s at 600 yd line you can watch them all. Best to sit behind and higher than the shooter. As I recall it takes around 1 second to reach target. Years ago we were shooting 45 acp hardball near a large reservoir. No one else around. We started shooting up at about a 45 degree angle pulled our earmuffs off and listened to the plunk noise of bullet hitting water. It took much less time than I thought it would to hear it.I have frequently seen .38 wadcutters in flight, as well as .45 acp .
The photo i took of the black powder breech loading cannon had the projectile seated against the rifling and the powder in a cartridge case shows the ball ahead of the main blast. If you notice the barrels muzzle is slightly depressed with the recoil impulse.That happens with EVERY cartridge based firearm.
