I think the work that is done on the top-strap to create the "hog-wallow" site is the determinative factor in the cost difference.
All-steel NM Blackhawks featuring the XR-3 gripframe share the lower cost of the .45 NM Blackhawk mentioned above.

The Gunblast pictures show no internal lock.
I didn't think that the internal lock had made it to the stainless steel Single Actions yet. Don't hold me to that, though.

I noticed in Gunblast.com 's review of the new Single-Ten that Ruger is putting smooth-wood laminate grips with a narrow "gunfighter" profile on these new guns.

I would have thought they'd use the 50th Anniversary .44 magnum frame.
I don't own a .45 convertible, but if I acquire one I think I'd want a full-sized Ruger .45 capable of "modern" high-pressure loads (like maybe an Accusport or Williams' Bisley convertible).
Oh well, I guess that's why we...
The most consistent advice I read on this forum is to be as "hands off" during the process as you can be (without being unhelpful). Let her handle a few similar (or maybe not-so-similar if she's inclined) guns and shoot at least one of them. Then, let her make up her own mind.

This part of the service package interested me as well. I'm nothing like an old hand with single actions; most of what I've learned has come from this forum, so my Ruger-bias makes me think "upgrading" some components to coiled springs sounds like a good idea.
Is there any controversy about...
