Looks pretty close to me Stan. I think those target grips will work.

Here she is with my current grips on them:

Oh yeah the target grips will definitely fit. It must just be a casting variation in the grip frame, the corners on your Service Six almost look a little like a Ruger tech hit them with a grinder to take some excess metal off. There is all kinds of variance in the frames of my Rugers, some of my GP's are thicker in the yoke area than others, and also some of my Sixes are thicker in the bottom than others. If I put standard "skinny" grips on some of my Sixes there is almost 1/8" of steel sticking out the bottom.

Do any U.S. military Service Sixes ever show up?

Yes, I think Ruger has sold for consecutive pairs of those in the last couple years. They say they have a couple more to sell, and they're bringing pretty big bucks too.
A few years ago Davidson's got a cleanout of the SDA-84 and GS32N, both with US markings...somewhat over 100 guns each as I remember, so yes...there are a few in the marketplace.

I have seen a few on GB, they usually sell for close to $1,000.....

Beware of counterfeits, it would be easy for someone not knowledgeable on Rugers to fall for a Service Six with a fake US stamp.
