I saw a nycpd Service Six 4" DAO for sale pretty cheap and was wondering if it has any more value than a ordinary Service 6. It's got some carry wear as might be expected but doesn't appear abused.

In my opinion, anything under $600 (maybe $700 nowadays with the way gun prices have been going) would be a good price, again depending on how much wear it might have. As for added value, well there were only a certain number made and if it has all the correct markings that helps the value.

Thanks, Ron. I've got the same gun in excellent condition that's an over run without the star that letters as NYCPD. So really don't need it but if I could get it for under $400 I might go for it.

I won the GB auction at $305. $369.96 after tax +shipping. Just a few slightly out of focus pics to judge & none with cylinder open. We'll see when it arrives. Should be almost worth it for parts alone. SN# 162-405XX so it's early in the serial# range so hoping it bears armorer's star on frame.

FWIW I value mine at $750.00 + each.
I've admired those two beauties before. I've also got a GS-83 like yours but matte finish like some USPS three inch I've seen. Hopefully the Service Six will clean up well. Got a nice set of OEM grips coming through ebay. Seller never responded to my question of the "star" being present. Seller is in the NYC area so maybe that increases my odds of it having seen service on the streets of NYC.
