Since they are finally realizing this cartridge is a viable varmint/small game round and Marlin won't/can't produce a long gun chambered in it. Ruger should make a run of 96's and 77's in .327.

Well, the secret is out. Today's e-edition of the Gun Digest Newsletter has a very glowing description of this new offering from Ruger by way of Lipsey's. For those of us who already own one or more guns in this caliber, the good news is that this should rekindle interest and perhaps even bring about some more production of ammo and components. :mrgreen:

Maybe the folks over in Springfield, MA will get the hint and turn loose of more than the dribble of guns they are producing in this caliber. Probably not, but one never knows, does one? :wink:

Has anyone broken the news to the folks at Federal? A substantial run of 327 FM ammo in various degrees of power would be nice, as well as perhaps some components(?) Maybe Starline will find a place in their production schedule to run a good sized batch of their brass for it as well. Since the supply of this cartridge has not needed to be all that great so far, I fear the ammo supply stream will be a little slow to catch up with demand if there is not some serious effort on the part of F and S*L. It's a good thing this revolver will be so happy shooting the shorter cased ammo that DOES seem to be in pretty good supply, but the REAL magnum shooters will want lots of the longer FM cases.

Yes. We have discussed the project with several of the ammo companies that produce 327 ammo including Federal.

I just got a notice from Starline Brass that .327 Federal brass is now available for pre-order. That is a jump up in status from "no back order"

This all sounds very promising for the ammo situation! If the folks who make the decisions about production are persuaded that the demand is there, things should be better for all of us. To be honest, I have no dog in this fight as I bought 1000 rounds of new Starline brass from a run about 2 years ago and have about 2-300 rounds of Fed brass acquired as loaded ammo and in a 100 round lot of new primed brass from Freedom Arms. As long as powder and primers hold out, I'll cast bullets from my assortment of moulds and keep on shooting! :mrgreen: My real hope is that there will be enough brass out there that the "no ammo available" excuse will no longer be valid. 8)

Hope they make it to my area. When Ruger was building the 327 on the Blackhawk frame I didn't see one. I do shoot the GP and SP and have plenty of Starline and Federal brass. Right now bullets are a little scarce here with only 85 XTPs available. I'll be on the lookout for one.
