Any members belong to load data dot com? Owned by Wolfe publishing. Just wondering if it would be worth the price. It looks like it would be.

I can't imagine paying for data when the various powder mfr web sites offer all the information I need free...especially when I can't find any )()*(& powder anyway! :(

Well, if you like to try loads published in Handloader magazine and don't have the back issues, this could be a way to get that data. There is also convenience of having one source that consolidates data from several sources:
1. Powder manufacturers
2. Bullet manufacturers
3. And the loads from magazine articles

I was considering it because I just bought a 375 Ruger & it looked like they had a bunch of different powder/bullet mixture's to choose from.
Between Hornady's, Nosler's & Hogdgon's manuals I have quite a few but in my eyes more is always better.
And the data Barnes publishes isn't with the powders of my choice.

I can't understand why anyone would use data "published" by people with no known track record and nothing at risk . . . not even a real name.

Call the manufacturer (powder and/or bullet), and you will get a load range recommendation that comes from a source with a name, responsibility, and a reputation to protect. See example below.

The odds that a specific load recommendation from a web site will be the best load for your particular firearm are no better than picking ANY load from within a safe range provided by a manufacturer.

[Example: I have a need for a load for 308, Lapua 100gr HPCE bullets.

VV web site provides loads only for VV powders, and I don't have anything faster than N140.

Hodgdon site does not provide data for any bullet below 110gr, but does list 47.3gr-52.5gr using H335 (which I have) for Barnes 110 TSX FB. My Sierra manual lists 41.0-48.6gr for three different 110gr FB bullets. So, nothing for 100gr, and a significant difference between sources based on bullet type.

I called Hodgdon, got a tech rep in less than 3 minutes, and asked for a load using H335 for the Lapua 100gr HPCE bullet. I did not tell him the research I had done, except to say I could not find any loads for 100gr. He checked Hodgdon data and told me that load, then said BUT that's the "Barnes bullet - hold on". He then pulled his own Sierra manual and said I should use that range, and could expect to be able to go a little hotter if desired because of the lighter bullet.

I then asked if I had any powder, what might work best in his opinion. He said H335 will likely be very good, and 4895 might be worth a try.

At the end of the day all he did was confirm what I would have used based on my own research, plus a 4895 recommendation. Oh, and he told me some Clays will ship this week, but it is a VERY small amount, and you will need a close connection with a distributor to get any :) ]

I emailed sierra & barnes. Sierra said use Hornady's data & Barnes sent me the same page that's in they're book even after I told them I had that & what powders I was planning on using. And Speer has yet to respond.
Twoboxer have you used the Load data? Just wondering where you came up with the term no name no track record.
I would think Wolfe Publishing would have some credibility. But I don't know that's why I'm asking.
It's only $30 for the year, the cost of another manual. But if I got it I'd copy everything that I wanted in a years time.

I'm on it. Haven't used it very much cause the caliber data I was interested in they didn't have a whole lot of info on at the time.

It's true that they re-use a bunch of stuff from published material. It's also true that they list gobs of home-brews some of which I have to say are quite original. These aren't just Joe schmucks making stuff up but in some cases submitted by reloaders who have written books on the subject or invented the wildcats (or so I have been told, can't prove it myself). They also have a print-out service which enables you to catalog what you want.

Load data is like porn, in that there's just too much free stuff to be had instead of paying for it.

Maybe porn but if you need porn lol
Theirs not a whole lot of 375 data out there with certain powder bullet combos.
Barnes load data lists the same 2 powders for every bullet & that's it. Speer & Sierra doesn't even have any data for the 375.
But yea if your loading 308 or 44 mag it's everywhere to be found for free.

I use it and I like it, to me it's like having another manual.

If you see something you think might be weird, cross check it

They usually give starting and max loads.

I have been loading since '75, you can never have too much data...

REALLY ? Luckily/handily I have every HANDLOADER MAGAZINE ever published and CANNOT imagine any reloader worth his salt not being a subscriber to that wonderful magazine. ANYone who relys on ANY loading data on the internet is fooling himself as it has all been hacked or will be and you'll NOT know the difference. But then again you cannot tell cheapskates anything because it might cost 'em well over two cents...
And so it goes...

I will 3rd the load data being a good idea. I have perhaps 1/4 of all the Handloader issues published. Always seems someone references something in one of the issues I don't have. In this day of components being scarce, it is very nice to be able to do a quick search of GOOD DATA to feel comfortable, or back off a load.

IMHO I think "My AMMO Guide" https://www.ammoguide.com/ is a better deal. Due to all the free tools that they have, Take a look. Decide for yourself.

I subscribed and have access to their data.

I find it nice to enter a caliber and bullet weight and not include powder types. A long list of loads appear and I browse the list and compare performance.

This can be helpful when looking for different powders for my loads when I can not find my normal powder.

It allows me to see data that goes back in time that might not be in my recent books.

I also find data that is specific to a type of gun. I have found data for Ruger No.1's for example.

I consider it another source of data that I can use for comparison.

I have to admit that I found a 264 lbc/6.5 grendel load there that I'd never seen anywhere else it turned out to be the bee's knees for a build I did.
