LCP II .380 changes

First, my apologies if this has been addressed in the past.
I just picked up a new LCP II .380 and it looks like there have been some obvious changes over the years. My firing pin retaining pin goes through the side of the slide and not down through the top. Even the user manual has not been updated to show this change.
Were there any other changes made?

Yes, the manual did not change, but my pin goes in through the side of the slide. Top of slide only has the extractor pin.

From looking at pictures in the manual, I noticed that the extractor is also different on mine, about twice the length of the earlier one. The longer extractor may be the reason that they had to move the firing pin retainer.

Just looked at mine and the pin is in through the top. I may give then a call and ask why the change.

My guess is that the longer extractor necessitated the firing pin move.
