OK... I haven't owned a single-action revolver in probably 15 years... now I look all over this forum and there are beautiful examples of them everywhere... you know I am going to have to go buy one soon, right?... I need another handgun like I need an additional orifice somewhere on my body... oh, well.... never hurts to have too many firearms I guess... There is a Blackhawk in 44 Spcl. with a 5 1/5" barrel that is calling my name... and another in 41 mag. is whispering to me as well.... decisions, decisions, decisions.....

If I was starting out all over again I'd without a doubt pick the .41 Blackhawk as my first single action.

Between the two? Easy .44 Special ... Classic. The .41 is the 'oddball' caliber .

I had a Single-Six back in the late 1980's... i am just not much of a rim-fire person I guess.... I just don't get the same kind of warm, fuzzy feeling from the little crack when it goes off and the general lack of recoil.

Ammunition cost and availability is not really a factor for me since I seldom, if ever, shoot anything other than my own hand-loads.

I am really going to be upset at everyone here if I end up buying two single actions- bad enough I am probably going to get one! :lol:

ya gotta have 2. i shoot the fixed sight (mini vaquero) SS for practice and it has really improved my .44 vaquero shooting.

a local gun shop drops there $25 stuff to $15 every 3mo or so for there big sale and i always buy $100 which lasts till the next sale.

If you don't own a Single Action Ruger, then you need another gun much more than you need another orifice. In fact, you need at least two more, and preferably 4 Single Action Rugers.

I know the feeling I figured an affordable single six for a .22 well I came home with a single six in .32 and put a 44 on layaway still no .22 habit forming

Hmmm... not what I am looking for but I see a fellow shooting enthusiast in my area has a new model SBH in 44mag for $350... nah... I will hold out for something with a little less barrel and in a different caliber... did see another gentleman has a old model BH in 30 carbine.... that is slightly tempting... might have to see how much he wants for it... will still keep an eye out for that 44 or 41 I really want.

That is a pretty reasonable combination, the .44 Spc and .41 Mag. I can't think of adding any fuel to the fire, like an argument for 300+ grain slugs at 1300 fps. A nice heavy .41 slug will do a job penetrating too.
