Yard Critters Down Under

I have now down here in Queensland for a bit over two months and about half that in my leased home. Still in discovery mode but lizards are a touch bigger than I am used to. Quite a number little (< 15" or so) guys bit this one stood out. The tree is ~24" in diameter. A slow and, what seemed, gentle dude or lass I was still quite cautious. With most such critters tending towards bad I gave it distance.

While I was working in Jakarta I went to a offshore island that was owned by the oil company. We took a trip to tourist island that had some Komodo Dragons on it. Now that is a big lizard. :shock: :shock:
That one in your yard would be called lunch :wink: :wink:

That is the plan and things are slowly aligning with some helpful "locals" via AR. Never thought I would hunt a wallaby? Working an alpine hunt in NZ for tahr and chamois. Want to head to Darwin for buff. We shall see. Do keep in mind my offer for north Idaho. We will be there in June for a bit and then it is vacant awaiting someone to keep it warm...

That looks like one of the many species of Monitor Lizards, common in the warm parts of Asia, Australia, Africa, and the Pacific. (If they're as tasty as the iguana tacos I once ate south of Mazatlan, I'd hunt THEM!).
