Was reflecting on some Memphis scenes from the past, and recalled the War Bond Drives and the associated displays.
I was a lot younger in 1942, and I remember my mother taking me into a bank, and there in the lobby was the engine and propeller, the prop being greatly abbreviated, set up from a B-19 bomber. Also there was the landing gear struts and tire from the B-19.
The B-19 was a Douglas design for a super bomber, only one of which was built.
The display was pretty impressive to my young mind.
