WTS - Clements 44 Special

WTS - SOLD PF.....REDUCED TO $1275 SHIPPED.....44 Special OM Ruger. 4 5/8" barrel. Earlier Clements gun when he was still marking them "CCG." SDM front sight and Bowen rear. Matte finish blue with color case hardened frame. Round-butted grip frame with nicely aged sambar stag stocks. There is some scattered light pitting under the blue (was on the base gun, I presume) on the cylinder that he didn't polish out. It looks far worse in the pictures than in hand, which is intentional. I zoomed in and did the lighting to make it really show up. In hand, you don't notice it that much. However, for a nice using gun, it is inconsequential. Nice, crisp trigger. Timing is excellent. Locks up about like you would expect for a Ruger of this era with some sideplay. He evidently didn't fit an oversized bolt to get it bank vault tight. Has a very nice Clements OM Bisley hammer on it, which is a classy touch. Overall, a handy, beautiful, using gun. $1350 shipped from my FFL dealer to yours.

And with such beautiful ivory colored stags. Very nice, and have had a hard time resisting--holding out to see if a 45 TLA is listed.

Folks, great maker gun here. I have one of Clements due to arrive within the next week or two that has been out for over two years. If you look at his website, you will note that he does not include an acuracy job in the Quinn Special--which this seems to resemble. I also know from my current project that pitting takes a lot of extra time--i.e. money--to fix. Very nice gun ready to go now, no two-year + wait, and less than it would cost to recreate. Somebody please jump on this one.

OK, it is very nice. But let me make totally sure I understand the details. This is an unconverted OM and built on the mid size frame, right? So it started out life as a .357 Magnum and was converted. Still has an alloy grip frame? Is the ERH still alloy as well?

I agree it is a tempting gun. And it would fit right into several of my existing holsters! And this is one gun that wouldn't require an investment in any reloading equipment. I'm practically swimming in .44 Special around here already.

Sorry for the assumptions on details - yes, it started as an OM .357, so it is a mid-size frame. It is unconverted, but has a Clements OM Bisley hammer (big plus in its favor, given their cost and lack of availability). No transfer bar. The ERH is steel. The grip frame is alloy.

So much for that new rifle I was all ready to buy!

Sometimes you just have to buy the unique good deal in front of you instead of the tempting current production gun. The rifle will still be there next year if I build the gun money back up. This revolver wouldn't have been.

I could have said no if it was "just" a .45. But the lure of the .44 Special catches me again.

I still think it needs a Belt Mountain #5. We'll see what I think when it is in my hand before I order one.
