I finally got a pair of ivory grips ordered form their web. 2 months later I got em today. The blasted grip screw is just about 1 /16 too short. It is 4 x 48x 1", from the head to the end. I think I need 1 1/8". I can grind it if I have to. The screw that came with the factory rubber grips on my NM Blackhawk is too big but the right length. Can any one help me out. Why is it so hard to just put a new set of grips on a gun???? WTH? I have a blued NM Blackhawk. The screw that came with the ivory Ruger emblem grips is also BLUE. If I only had my loader from Dillon I could a least load some ammo and shoot! I can't find any loaded ammo so I can shoot my new piece. Better days ahead, I hope. Thanks BHK

Are you sure it's a #4 screw? That seems awful small. Ruger's standard single action grip screws are #6-40. Most of the after market screws sold are #5-40 like the ones that Brownells sells.

Are you looking for a blued or stainless screw?

caryc`s answer was exactly what I was thinking also. 4x48 is a super tiny size to use as a grip screw. Brownells has screws of all sizes available but be sure of the size before you order and end up with a part you can use. That would really set me off for sure!! :x :x :x

Yes, altamont made the grips. I tried a 4 x 40, it fit the hole, but wouldn't thread in. It is just about 1/8" too short. I also tried the factory screw and it was too big. I need a 4 x 48 x 1 1/8. Brownells has #4 filister blanks. I had to sell all my shop equipment due to health reasons. I could get a 4 x 48 blank screw and a die, and make my own. I just got disgusted after talking to Ruger CS, and sent the grips back. I'm gonna send my SS blackhawk to John Gallagher to convert it to 41 mag with a 5 1/2" blue barrel and cylinder. Also gonna have a brass bead front sight installed. Just gotta raise the moolah! About the returned grips, I called several gun shops and no one had a 4 x 48 x 1 1/8 filister screw. Oh well. I'm gonna shoot my new 41 2marra. A friend gave me a box to shoot, as he just wants the brass back. I gave him some 5.56 ammo. 40 year friends are hard to come by, I'm real lucky. BHK

I'm sorry but I still have to disagree with you. I don't think Altamont used any #4 screws for grip screws. I'm not going to argue with you about it though.
